Front Porch

This is a plain-English starter policy for Front Porch (readfrontporch.com) and Front Porch Florida. It is not legal advice. We will refine it as the product grows.

1. Acceptance

By using the Front Porch website, Progressive Web App, or apps you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. Reading the edition does not require an account.

2. The service

Front Porch Florida is a free morning edition: news, weather, gas prices, schools, sports, and civic notes for the Sunshine State. We may change, delay, or skip a day. Content is for general information. It is not legal, financial, medical, or emergency advice. For weather emergencies, follow the National Hurricane Center and your county emergency office.

This is a hometown paper for a general audience. It is not aimed at children under 13.

3. Email edition

The morning list at https://florida.readfrontporch.com/subscribe is optional and free. Every email includes an unsubscribe link (CAN-SPAM). You can also stop from the unsubscribe page or by writing hello@readfrontporch.com.

4. Staff text alerts

A separate staff-only text program may be offered at /staff. You join only by checking an unchecked box and submitting a number. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent to texts is not a condition of reading Front Porch Florida on the web. Email unsubscribe does not cancel texts; STOP does not cancel email. You must be 18 or older to join.

5. Acceptable use

Sit on the porch in a regular browser. Share a link with a neighbor. Search engines may index the pages we leave open in our robots.txt file.

Do not use a robot, spider, scraper, crawler, or any other automated means to access, harvest, or copy the Site or Content, except the visits our robots.txt allows or ones we have approved in writing first.

Do not lean on the site so hard it gets slow for everyone. Stay out of the newsroom and other staff doors unless we invited you. Do not hand us an email or phone number that is not yours to give.

Break these house rules and we may pause or shut off your access.

6. Our names and the edition

Front Porch owns the names, logos, mastheads, and the edition copy we publish, or we license that material. Read the paper for yourself. Share a link. Do not copy, rewrite, or pass around a whole edition — or set our Content out as your own competing product — unless we said yes in writing first.

Front Porch, Front Porch Florida, and our marks are ours. Do not use them in a way that makes it look like we signed off on your project.

7. Other people's sites

A story or an ad may walk you off our porch onto someone else's page. That yard is theirs. We do not run it, and a link is not our stamp of approval.

8. If we printed your work

Think a piece on the porch belongs to you? Write hello@readfrontporch.com or send a letter to 411 Walnut Street PMB: 25831, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. Tell us what the work is, where it showed up, and how we can reach you. We will look.

9. Notes you send us

A tip, pitch, or idea that arrives through Contact, Advertise, or a similar form is not a secret contract. We may use it. We do not owe a check for something sent over the transom.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted delivery of email or the website.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Florida law, Front Porch and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some limits do not apply where forbidden.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Venue for disputes that are not subject to a required consumer forum is in Florida state or federal courts.

13. If one sentence falls

If a court sets aside one part of these Terms, the rest still stands. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole written understanding between you and Front Porch about using the site.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page. Continued use after the new date constitutes acceptance.
